Robert Burns (1759 – 1796)

Stocklinch celebrates - Friday 22nd January 2010

The Selkirk Grace

Some hae meat and canna eat,
And some wad eat that want it;
But we hae meat, and we can eat,
Sae let the Lord be thankit.

The Selkirk Grace is said by the Chairman

The Haggis is carried round the room

While the bagpipes are played

The Haggis is addressed -
See here for a copy

The Haggis is then eaten with Neeps and Tatties (turnip and potatoes)

And whisky is drunk

Then we cleared away the tables

and had a few dancing lessons

And then we danced

A few readings from The Bard while the dancers rested

And we then had a bagpipe recital
